Harbor College Science Complex

BlueGreen provided landscape architecture from pre-competition design development concept through construction documentation for the new Los Angeles Harbor College Science Complex. Pinner Construction was selected as the Design-Build contractor for this new project. HGA Architects designed the 74,000 square foot space which includes laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, offices and related support spaces.
The Science Complex offers optimal learning environments by integrating sustainable design strategies inspired by nature. The Science Complex considers siting, massing, orientation, materials and technology integrated with Life Science and Physical Science functions to achieve sustainable results. The landscape utilizes native coastal prairie and wetland plants referencing the indigenous plant communities of the Bixby Slough which formerly existed on this site. BlueGreen Consulting collaborated with JMC2 Engineers to complete the $2.8M landscape architecture component of this LEED® Platinum project.
