Sustainable Design Guidelines for Los Angeles Community College District

BlueGreen Consulting worked under architecture firm Glumac Inc. and contributed to the drafting of District-wide Sustainable LEED Design Standards that outline specific design goals under a LEED based approach. Part of this work was to review existing campus guidelines and master plans and make campus-specific suggestions for how to integrate native plant palettes and other sustainable landscape architecture practices under the multi-billion dollar bond-funded “Build LACCD” program. BlueGreen produced a series of “Green Papers” that were intended to educate design consultants and campus management teams about key design elements. BlueGreen produced “Native Plants” which provided comprehensive plant palettes for various campus conditions, “Porous Pavements” with a discussion of pros and cons of different pavement types, and “Efficiency in Landscape Irrigation” which provided an outline for LEED evaluations and calculations required for a LEED conforming irrigation design.
